The Muscle Maximizer

If you look closely at different bodybuilding and workout supplements in the  market, you'll surely notice a common ingredient for these products - protein. Protein is an essential nutrient for body builders and athletes so it's really not surprising to find a lot of supplements like Myofusion fully concentrated on this nutrient alone.

Being a macronutrient, one can easily see why large amount of protein is needed by the body. All cells in the body need it, your muscles need it, even your hair, bones, and nails. Protein is essential for the body as it serves as one of the building blocks for our bones, muscles, blood, and skin.

This is why proteins also have an important role in muscle growth and recovery. Whenever we exercise, there's muscle contraction and movement. For athletes and body builders who take gym workouts to the next level, resistance exercises can cause possible injuries to their muscle fibers and ligaments. While many injuries are not serious to require a trip to the doctor, the body's natural reaction to this muscle damage requires protein and other nutrients to help in the muscle recovery and growth.

This is the particular reason why athletes consume protein-rich food (such as drinks and shakes, as well as supplements) before and after workout. The protein fix before exercise can help the body prepare for a strenuous activity, while the post-workout dose is for helping the muscles recharge and recover faster.

Apart from helping in muscle growth and tissue repair, as well as keeping the overall body healthy, protein is also proven to have positive effects outside body building and exercising. For one, there are researches suggesting that protein-rich foods can help in weight loss because of their appetite-suppressing tendency. There are also types of protein that are said to be helpful in avoiding certain diseases, such as heart problems and type 2 diabetes.

Despite the many benefits protein can give us, it does not automatically mean it's okay to consume a lot of it just to prove the advantages. Remember: anything excessive borders on unhealthy. Studies show that high protein diets can lead to some complications. For one, while protein is said to aid in weight loss, it's important to not compromise your daily consumption of carbohydrates. Imbalance in protein and carbohydrates in diet can lead to a condition called ketosis (side effects of which may include nausea and tiredness). Besides, excessive consumption of protein-rich foods can also contribute to increased risk for having diabetes, cancer, and heart problems.

The same case applies to consuming protein supplements. To make the most of the benefits and counter the side effects, it's necessary to have some knowledge about proper, safe, and recommended dosage. And of course, remember to continue on a balanced diet: don't forget other essential nutrients you can get from other food products not containing protein.
